Teaching Philosophy

As dance artists we all have a characteristic personality that defines us like who we are, we have trademarks that make us different from the rest of the world. Our way of moving is also part of our identity. That is why respecting the individuality of eachof the students even when working in groups will help to form free movement perceptions even in a technical class. As a teacher, is important to maintain present our identity and our critical way of perceiving our-selves as artists. I strongly believe that students began to build up an artistic identity and trade-marks during classes. I am interested in offering the students the opportunity to find their own movement identity through providing them the necessary time to develop themselves, (but not enough to stagnate) and space to do their personal research, consecutively, they can reflect about their personal process, so they can criticize their personal growth and development. Creativity is , for me, a primordial element in an artist life, that is the reason why I encourage students to develop their creativity by applying concepts seen in class in their creations through collaborati-ve work and creative movement contributions during class, including critical analysis to poten-tiate learning, giving the students the opportunity to have this material that will be useful for them to construct evidence that will be stored in an archive, so they can use it as back up of their work. In my classes, I consider and prioritize exercises to train creativity and imagination to create movement, guiding the student using the best possible communication to provide clear information according to the objective that the class requires and the ages of the students. Encouraging students to develop and surpass themselves is my main mission. Forge a suitable character to identify strengths, weaknesses and how to use them in favor of daily life, as well as being critical and forging an identity, defending their ideals and thoughts, maintaining respect and ethics. Teaching dance is for me an opportunity to growth in a professional and personal way, is one of the opportunities art expressions offer to human life.
